Violation of Domestic Violence Act

"Primarily meant to provide protection to the wife or female live-in partner from violence at the hands of the husband or male live-in partner or his relatives, the Act extends its protection to women who are sisters, widows or mothers. Domestic violence under the Act includes actual abuse or the threat of abuse whether physical, sexual, verbal, emotional or economic. Harassment by way of unlawful dowry demands to the woman or her relatives would also be covered under this definition."- Domestic Violence Act 2005
The act was implemented from Oct 26, 2005. But what the irony of the fact is that this law which was made for protecting the tights of women are being misused by them against their in-laws. Many men have become the victims of this law and having no way to escape plunge into depressions. Isn't it high time the Indian judiciary makes some law for protecting the men also?
One can even find instances where men have committed suicide unable to bear the torture. This act which was a boon to all the women who were being exploited by their in-laws has become a tool in the hands of manipulative women and their family.
This act has armed them with a weapon against the family members. How anything good can be misused- this is a good example of that.
God save the men who have faced the brunt of this.
